Welcome to nzinsulators.co.nz and welcome to a proud 88-year-old New Zealand manufacturing business. From a significant & historic site in Temuka, South Canterbury – it is NZI's pleasure to showcase a suite of HV, MV & LV electrical products.

We're proud to represent leading brands which include NZI (made here in New Zealand), AX Spindles (new), Avon (New Zealand), DTR (Korea), NGK Stanger (Australia), Cooper Bussmann (India), Efen (Germany) and Sofamel (Spain).

We need to emphasise that we are a manufacturing business, with proud New Zealand craftsmen & women actually making those items branded NZI.

How can we compete against cheap imports, with those scary-low wages & heavily-protected exchange rates in the developing world? Everyone asks this.

Well, we own our 200,000 square foot Temuka facility, with cash in the bank. We own our own opencast mine in Kakahu, and operate with the lowest of regional overheads. We're flexible enough to make specialised products in small quantities, plus we make BETTER products than our competitors. And we supply a market that knows & trusts NZI product made in Temuka.
We can compete just fine.

The priority for New Zealand Insulators is our NZI brand, the products we manufacture. Only those items made by us in Temuka, are permitted to carry the NZI badge.

So far in 2012 we've released an all-new Catalogue, launched a basket of new products, completed the upgrade of our Temuka office exterior/entrance and moved into our new Auckland warehouse.

Finally, could I introduce myself? I'm Greg Howell, the thirteenth Manager of New Zealand Insulators, having taken on this unique (demanding) challenge in October 2010. It's a real privilege to have the opportunity to lead this heritage Kiwi business, and it's been extremely gratifying to see many of the 27 Electricity Networks around New Zealand getting in behind NZI.

NZI means business - we're competing, winning back share. Production staff grew from 28 to 40 in 2011. Momentum is building. Our new Auckland Branch in Kumeu will be fully operational by early March.
